Amazon unveils its AI ambitions in Hollywood, sparking a creator revolt

Jorge Gutierrez said he is no longer making “Punky Duck,” an Amazon MGM Studios’ Gen AI-produced animated series, following widespread backlash after the project was announced.

In the same week Pope Leo XIV urged caution about artificial intelligence in his first encyclical, one Hollywood studio delivered its equivalent of a holy endorsement for the technology: Amazon MGM Studios greenlit three animated series produced using generative AI.
