Man accused of kidnapping scientists had past case dropped over a technicality, prosecutor says

Though Joseph Charles Henrichsen was released after being accused of a hate crime, the Washington state official always felt he should be considered a danger.

One of the two men accused of zip-tying and holding hostage two national forest employees last week had a violent criminal charge dismissed because of overcrowding in the state’s mental health facilities, a Washington prosecutor said.
