At least 10 people are injured, one critically, after a third-floor balcony collapsed on Friday night at a housing complex near the University of Cincinnati, officials said.

A call came in at around 10:09 p.m. reporting the collapse of a third-floor balcony at Stetson Square, according to city and university spokespeople. The residence is not part of the university's housing, a spokesperson told NBC News.

One person was injured critically while the others had non-life-threatening injuries, Cincinnati Fire Chief Frank McKinley said. They were all taken to local hospitals, with seven of them receiving care at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, officials confirmed.

Most of the victims are believed to be University of Cincinnati students, McKinley said. The university was notified about the incident, he said.

Video from the scene on Friday night showed the area where the balcony collapsed cordoned off by yellow tape. First responders were also on the scene along with a fire engine.
