Family uses external review to overturn insurance denial
In North Carolina, more than half of insurance denials that go through external review in the state’s Smart NC program are overturned. NBC News’ Vicky Nguyen reports on one family that used the system to get approval for the medicine that is helping cut down on their son’s seizures - the list price nearly $800,000 a year.
