Police officer and civilian killed in Montreal shooting
Two people were killed in Montreal following a shooting in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood.
A police officer and a civilian were killed in a shooting in Montreal that wounded another officer and a civilian Monday morning, authorities said.

Officers were responding to a report at 11:35 a.m. of shots fired and a gun protruding from an upper-floor window at a hotel in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood when they encountered a gunman on the ground and exchanged fire, Montreal Police Chief Fady Dagher said at a news conference.
The fallen officer was identified as Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, who had been with the service since 2021, police said in a statement late Monday.
