Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt, a Republican whose home burned in the 2025 Palisades Fire, is coming at Bass from the right, while City Council member Nithya Raman, a former Bass ally and Democratic Socialists of America member, is challenging Bass from the left.

If a candidate gets a majority of the vote, they will win the election in one go. If not, the top two candidates from the all-party primary advance to the general election.
