WWE founder Vince McMahon resigns after ex-employee’s lawsuit accuses him of sexual assault, trafficking

WWE founder Vince McMahon stepped down from his role with the company and its parent company Friday, the day after he was accused of sex trafficking, abuse and sexual assault by a former employee.

World Wrestling Entertainment founder Vince McMahon stepped down from his role with the company and its parent company Friday, the day after a former employee filed a lawsuit accusing him of sex trafficking, abuse and sexual assault.

McMahon resigned as TKO executive chairman and from the TKO board of directors, and will no longer have a role with WWE, WWE President Nick Khan wrote in an email to employees Friday night.

On Thursday, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit that stated she was “the victim of physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking at WWE.”

“Today’s complaint seeks to hold accountable two WWE executives who sexually assaulted and trafficked Plaintiff Janel Grant, as well as the organization that facilitated or turned a blind eye to the abuse and then swept it under the rug,” her attorney Ann Callis said.

McMahon has rejected the allegations and said he looks forward to clearing his name.
