Trump called ABC, the channel the debate is due to be aired on "a disgrace".
The former president was also asked about his preference on whether microphones should be muted, when the other speaker is talking.
The Trump campaign reportedly wants the debate to be governed by the same rules agreed when Joe Biden was the Democratic candidate. That would mean the microphones being muted.
