ICE pauses most vehicle stops as pressure to arrest is blamed for fatal shootings

The administration’s pressure to increase arrests has put officers under “too much stress,” sources said, after two men who weren’t initial ICE targets were killed in less than a week.

ICE has issued a nationwide order to all officers to stop pursuing people in vehicles, according to a senior Department of Homeland Security official and two former senior DHS officials. The move comes after ICE officers fatally shot two men in less than a week in Maine and Texas.
