Used 1965 Ford Mustang

1965 Ford Mustang The impact the original Ford Mustang had on society when it was launched is almostunfathomable in today’s world. First going on sale in April of 1964 as a “1964 ½” model year, the Mustang sold more than 400,000 units in the first year, and over a million within two years of launching. With its classic good looks and a wide variety of powertrain options, the Mustang endures as one of the most sought-after classics of all time and are a hit everywhere. This 1965 Mustang is a stunning example that has been lightly modified, but with largely period correct upgrades that make the car look and drive even better. Sold new in Portland, OR, as a factory A-Code car, this Mustang was purchased by the seller from the car’s second owner. Between 2018 and 2023, the car was subject to a comprehensive restoration with a build binder filled with photos and receipts. Finished in Black Raven, the car has a particularly muscular look thanks to a 1-inch drop on Shelby suspension and a set of 15-inch American Racing Torq-Thrust Wheels. Around the car, the chrome accents on the bumpers, side scoops and front grille all shine like new, and the BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with white lettering give the car a true period look. To compliment that gorgeous black exterior, the interior is finished in red, with red vinyl wrapping the seats, and red carpeting throughout to match. The 3-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal speedometer, and a duo of Rally-pack gauges on the steering column includes a tachometer. A Retro Sound head unit is seamlessly integrated into the dash, and Kenwood speakers throughout the cabin provide great sound. Sitting under the hood is Ford’s legendary 289 cubic inch V8, topped with a 4bbl carburetor. Power is sent via a 4-speed manual gearbox to the 3.25 ratio limited slip rear differential - all of these factors combine for a Mustang that is so much fun to drive. The 289 V8 is really the engine that the Mustang’s reputation was built on, although you could order it with some more fuel efficient options, a revvy 289 V8 and a manual transmission were what made the car special. This car was also fitted with a Kelsey Hayes disc brake conversion on the front wheels which makes it safer and nicer to drive around town. Even more than 60 years after its debut, the enthusiasm people have for these first generation Mustangs can’t be overstated. This example is particularly desirable with its beautiful color combination, powerful 289 ci V8, 4-speed manual and recently completed restoration being just a few of the vehicle's highlights. Key Features * Factory A-Code Car * Sold New in Portland, OR * 3-Owners From New * 289ci V8 * 4bbl Carburetor * 4-Speed Manual Gearbox * 3.25 Rear End * Limited-Slip Differential * 15-inch American Racing Wheels * BFG Radial T/A Tires * Kelsey Hayes Front Disc Brakes * Shelby-Spec Suspension * 1-Inch Drop * Rally Gauge Pack For more information on this 1965 Ford Mustang or any of our other Luxury, Exotic, Sports, Collectible, and Special Interest cars in our inventory contact our friendly and knowledgeable sales team or, if you are local to us, call and schedule a visit to our 40,000+ sq.ft. of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home to an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance, and Collectible Automobiles.
