The US president and Kamala Harris, his vice-president, have met negotiators in the Situation Room in the latest push to get a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of hostages held by Hamas.

In remarks at the White House on Monday, Mr Biden criticised Benjamin Netanyahu, saying he did not believe the Israeli leader was doing enough to secure a deal.

US officials have categorised this latest proposal as a "take it or leave it deal", the Washington Post reported.

It comes after Israel recovered the bodies of six hostages in Gaza on Saturday.
