Jake Reiner says he hasn’t spoken to his brother as he opens up about grief after parents’ deaths

“I will never understand why this happened,” Jake Reiner told KABC-TV of Los Angeles about the murders of Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner. His brother has been charged in their deaths.

It has been eight months since beloved Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed and their son Nick Reiner was arrested in their deaths.

But for Jake Reiner, the couple’s 35-year-old son, the nightmare feels like “eight years at the same time, and it also feels like eight minutes,” he told KABC-TV of Los Angeles in his first sit-down interview since the family tragedy.

“Every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality, and you’re living through that every single day,” he said.

Jake said he hasn’t spoken to his brother. Nor has he attended any of his brother’s court hearings, the station reported.

“He’s in jail, so, you know, it’s like I physically lost my parents and then Nick was arrested. And it’s like now, it’s just me and Romy,” he said, referring to his 28-year-old sister.
