A gunman opened fire Friday in an Idaho sheriff’s office and at two women outside, injuring three people before he was killed by law enforcement, the Shoshone County sheriff said.
The incident at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office in Wallace happened around 2:30 p.m. and the suspect was pronounced deceased at 4:15 p.m., Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy said.
The officer and two women suffered minor injuries in the incident, Eddy said. The information was still preliminary Friday evening, he said.
Eddy described one of the shots as "just nicking" the ear of the officer who was struck, and said he believed the two women were hit in the leg.
The lobby of the sheriff’s office was open to the public at the time.
