At the Telluride Film Festival, Oscar buzz builds

Nathan Fielder’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary captured most of the attention at Telluride, but plenty of other projects had people talking.

TELLURIDE, Colo. — While the movie studios were winding down a record summer at the box office, the question many of us were asking heading into the fall festival season was whether film festivals are losing some of their impact. As I fly home over the Rocky Mountains after a whirlwind weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, I feel like this year’s edition delivered plenty of punch after all.
