A building in midtown Manhattan nearly collapsed. Here’s what happens next.

Engineering experts told NBC News that, after a thorough investigation, repairs that will take months should get the building project back on track.

Less than 24 hours after New York City officials ordered the evacuation of several blocks around a midtown Manhattan construction site, officials said Wednesday the building is now “stable” and emergency repairs were underway, even as many residents and area employees remained uncertain as to how to proceed.
