CloseA renowned painting by British landscape artist JMW Turner has returned to the city that inspired it nearly two centuries ago.

Rome, from Mount Aventine features a panoramic view of the Italian capital and will be on display at the Palazzo Rondinini for three days.

Dating back to the 19th century, the masterpiece was based on sketches made in Rome.

The work of art is remarkably well preserved and is believed to have never been restored. It even features traces of fingerprints and brush hairs are still visible.
