Arrest of pro-Palestinian activist sparks protests in New York

Mahmoud Khalil, a recent Columbia University graduate and legal permanent resident, was arrested by federal immigration agents at his apartment. Khalil has helped lead pro-Palestinian protests at the university. The Department of Homeland Security says he “led activities aligned to Hamas”. Khalil’s lawyer is challenging his detainment.
