The footage shows military helicopters approaching the tanker and what appears to be US troops boarding it. The operation, led by the US Coast Guard, was announced by President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Speaking to the BBC, retired US Marine Corps Colonel Mark Cancian describes how these operations usually unfold, "rarely" involving any violence.
