Some White South African applicants to Trump’s refugee program say they feel forgotten

More than a half dozen white South Africans say they applied early for the U.S. refugee program. As they wait, they say, they face violent racial discrimination, a claim experts refute.

A year ago, President Donald Trump all but shut America’s door to refugees from around the world fleeing war and genocide. He left out one notable exception: white South Africans, who the administration says face racial persecution and violence.
