The Grammy-winning singer, 83, revealed shared the news July 27 when providing an update on her health and explaining her absence from the public eye.

“So many people have written to me, kindly wondering about my relative silence, asking how I am and what I have been doing. The truth is, I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease,” she said in a statement obtained by NBC News.
