Manhunt for Charlie Kirk assassin and the 9/11 health program delays: Morning Rundown

A manhunt for Charlie Kirk's assassin enters second day.

A manhunt for Charlie Kirk's assassin enters second day. Democrats demand answers from RFK Jr. on the delayed 9/11 health program. And a group fights for the preservation of historic Latino landmarks.

Here’s what to know today.

The shooter who killed 31-year-old conservative political activist Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University remained at large this morning. Authorities separately detained two people yesterday but both were later released. Law enforcement officials said they had “no current ties to the shooting.”

While the identity of the shooter and their motive remained unclear, President Donald Trump blamed "the radical left" in a video posted to his social media accounts. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox called it a "political assassination."

Kirk, who mobilized a generation of young conservatives through his nonprofit Turning Point USA, was on the Utah Valley University campus to debate ideas about the power of free speech, Cox said. He often toured campuses to debate college students on an array of divisive topics like abortion, military conflicts and transgender rights.
