Five Chicago police officers were hit by a car early Sunday while on duty on the city’s west side, the department said.

The officers were helping to disperse a large crowd at 3:20 a.m. when a blue vehicle traveling westbound in an eastbound lane hit them, the Chicago Police Department said.

The car allegedly mounted a curb and then hit a police patrol car, a utility pole and a fence before coming to a stop. Police said they arrested an uninjured 18-year-old male; charges are pending.
