In a video, the president can be seen talking to people attending the event, who ask him to put on the hat.

He jokes with the crowd as he briefly wears it over his own hat.

White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates said the president "briefly wore" the cap as a gesture of "bipartisan unity".
