At least 4 dead as torrential flooding hits Arizona

At least four people are dead after torrential rainfall and flooding in Arizona.

At least four people are dead after torrential rainfall and flooding in Arizona that officials described Saturday as catastrophic.

Three of the deaths were in the small community of Globe, Gila County emergency manager Carl Medford told NBC News.

Additional details about the deaths were not immediately available. State emergency management director Gabe Lavine said officials were still trying to determine the number of dead because the situation was still unfolding and "dynamic."

After floodwaters receded Saturday in Scottsdale, the body of Ander Polanco, 38, was recovered near a vehicle that had been submerged. Polanco's family had reported him missing Friday, the city's police department said.

The National Weather Service early Saturday evening issued a flash flood warning, which indicates imminent or ongoing flooding, for Phoenix, Scottsdale and other parts of the region.
