A 12-year-old was shot Wednesday night after throwing a snowball at a car in Hartford, Connecticut, police said.
The child and an 11-year-old child were throwing snowballs when a snowball hit a car, police said. The car “looped the block” to chase the kids and “fired rounds at the children,” Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said at a news conference Thursday.
The 12-year-old's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, he said. The 11-year-old was not struck by gunfire.
"It could have been a lot worse," Boisvert said.
Officials are looking for the vehicle and investigating what happened. Police are not sure how many people were in the car.
