Used 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera

1990 Porsche Carrera 2 When Porsche first put the 964 generation 911 on sale in 1989, it caused a stir among Porsche purists as it was the first major overhaul of the 911 shape in the model’s 25 year production run. With its integrated plastic bumpers, re-designed rear suspension and more supple cabin, the 964 spent many years as the orphaned 911 generation, with enthusiasts opting for the newer 993, or older G-Body cars. But in recent years, enthusiasts have come to realize that the 964 is potentially the best of the 911 range and represents the ideal middle-point between classic driving dynamics and modern comfort, technology and reliability. This 1990 964 Carrera 2 is arguably the best 911 available that year, and is far more sought after than its all-wheel drive counterparts. The elegant, classic 964 shape is finished in Dark Blue (Dunkelblau) and is in remarkable condition, showing just 98,512 miles at the time of cataloging. Having lived in Washington State for nearly 20 years, this car has all the benefits you would expect from a west-coast vehicle that has been driven sparingly throughout its life. This color was quite rarely selected in the United States which is a shame as it does a spectacular job showing off the subtle lines of the 964 and Porsche’s brilliant integration of the mandated impact bumpers. From the factory, this 911 is fitted with attractive “Design 90” wheels that are wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact tires. A true 911 enthusiast will likely recognize that this car sits a bit lower than stock which has been achieved thanks to a set of Bilstein HD shocks and H&R springs that both give the car a great stance and help firm up the ride just a bit for flatter cornering. On the interior, Fashion Gray leather is seen on the seats, center console, door cards and shift boot and appears to be in quite nice original condition throughout. Showing just a few signs of wear over the car’s 34 years of life is a testament to how well this car has been kept. As a US market car, this example is fitted with the original 4-spoke airbag steering wheel, which frames a tachometer with a 6,750 rpm redline and a 180 mph speedometer. The standard stereo has been swapped out for an updated head unit with more modern capabilities. Sitting behind the passengers in this 964 is an air cooled 3.6 liter flat-6 known as the M64. Producing 247 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque, this engine sends power through a 5-speed G50 transaxle to the rear wheels. Although this car is largely stock, there are a few modifications that have been made which truly transform the driving experience. Starting with a lightweight RS flywheel that helps the car rev a bit more freely, which is paired to a Steve Wong chip that opens up a bit more power. A Dansk secondary muffler bypass gives the car a great sound, but is not overly aggressive and could easily be used every day - that being said, the original secondary muffler is included. In all, these modifications don’t drastically change how the car drives, but instead they enhance the stock experience and make the car feel a bit more alive when you’re really going for it. This 964 Carrera 2 is an exceptional example that has clearly been well kept and cherished throughout its life. Finding a quality 964 can be difficult and the opportunity to buy a US-Specification car in a color other than red, white, silver or black is truly a rare occurrence. Seeing this car in person is all you will need to realize that, weather you hope to use it as a sunny day fun car or a daily driven classic, it checks all the boxes. Key Features * Dark Blue * 3.6-Liter Air Cooled Flat 6 * 247 Horsepower * 229 Lb-Ft of Torque * RS Flywheel * Dansk Secondary Muffler Bypass * Steve Wong Chip * 5-Speed Manual Transmission * Bilstein HD Shocks * H&R Springs * Fashion Gray Leather * Upgraded Panasonic Stereo Additional Information * Factory Books and Manuals * Some Service Records  For more information on this stunning 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe or any of our 100+ High-Performance, Exotic and Special Interest cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40,000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
