Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird — two legendary sports stars who were in a relationship for nearly 10 years — announced their separation Friday in a statement on social media.“This hasn’t been an easy decision, but it’s one we’ve made together, with so much love, respect, and care for each other,” the Olympic gold medalists wrote in an Instagram post.

“This hasn’t been an easy decision, but it’s one we’ve made together, with so much love, respect, and care for each other,” the Olympic gold medalists wrote in an Instagram post. “We’ve shared a whole life over the last decade, through big moments and in quiet ones, and that is something we’ll always carry with us.”

The pair also announced they will end their podcast, “A Touch More,” which relaunched in 2024 to focus on women’s sports and its intersection with politics, equality and inclusion.
