The pontiff was seen tugging at the troublesome cloth in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, as he attempted to reveal the marble tablet commemorating his trip to Turkey.
Church clergy and security staff joined in the tussle, but the white sheet stubbornly hung to the corner.
The Pope arrived in Turkey on Thursday and will be heading to Lebanon's capital Beirut on Sunday.
