Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill denied Tuesday that he ever lashed out violently against his estranged wife, with his lawyers calling the allegations "unsubstantiated, untrue" and nothing more than a shakedown.
Keeta Vaccaro, who was married to Hill for about 1½ years, made serious domestic violence allegations against him in a divorce filing obtained by TMZ.
“The new allegations that Ms. Vaccaro and her counsel have decided to allege are all unsubstantiated, untrue and an attempt to generate bad media coverage for Mr. Hill and therefore extort a large settlement offer from Mr. Hill, of which we believe Ms. Vaccaro is not entitled in this 17 month marriage,” Hill's personal attorney, Julius Collins, said in a statement.
Hill's divorce lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, questioned the motives behind the claims.
"The allegations are false, spurious and are intended as a means of shaking down Mr. Hill for money, it is incredibly troubling that they are being made in this venue and come on the heels of an order regarding attorney fees," Gottlieb said in a statement. "We have no intention of trying this case in the media and are certain Mr. Hill will be cleared in court as he is innocent."
