Heat wave in the eastern U.S. sparks a scramble to protect the vulnerable

The heat in the eastern U.S. is a particular threat to children and older people. Leaders of summer camps, nonprofits and city governments are scrambling to keep them safe.

Around 160 million people were under extreme heat warnings or advisories Wednesday as a dangerous heat wave continues to blanket much of the eastern half of the country. Parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts and North Carolina could set record highs through Saturday.
