The station is broadcast in over 40 countries worldwide. Currently, Kiss has over 1.3 million listeners. It is a top-rated station in the United Kingdom.

Kiss FM was originally a pirate radio station. Listeners would display their Kiss FM stickers in their cars. The radio station was bought by a new company in the late 1990s, and the station was no longer pirated. As soon as the station's ownership changed, Steve Jackson was removed from Kiss FM. The new owners were restructuring the station and forced him out.

As the network's popularity grew, Kiss FM's popularity spread. While the station initially broadcast pirated music, it soon became legal and began to expand to other cities in London. Its founder, Gordon Mac McNamee, and his friends were able to build a loyal following in the UK. By the end of the decade, Kiss FM radio station had over five hundred thousand listeners per day.
