And it may not be what fans were hoping for.
“I won’t bring everyone back unless it’s worth it,” Chu, the director, told Deadline last week. “There’s too much on the line for everybody.”
Shortly after the 2018 release of “Crazy Rich Asians,” a sequel to the romantic comedy began moving forward. “Crazy Rich Asians” grossed $35 million within five days of its premiere, and it was the first major studio film to feature an all-Asian cast in 25 years.
“Crazy Rich Asians” skyrocketed several Asian American actors to stardom, including Constance Wu, Awkwafina, Henry Golding and Gemma Chan.
