Astronaut Frank Rubio now holds the record for the longest continuous space flight in US history.

CloseAstronaut Frank Rubio and his fellow cosmonauts, Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin, landed safely in Kazakhstan on Wednesday after more than a year aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Their mission was scheduled to last six months, but a leak in their capsule forced them to wait for a replacement spacecraft.
