Adarius Hayes, a University of Miami linebacker, was the driver in a fatal car crash that killed an adult and two children in Hayes’ hometown of Largo, Florida.

The crash occurred at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday when it appears a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul while the Soul was making a left turn, according to the Largo Police Department. A police spokeswoman confirmed to NBC News that Hayes was involved in the crash.

Hayes, 20, was behind the wheel of the Durango at the time of the crash. The driver of the Kia Soul, 78-year-old Gail Price, died as a result of injuries sustained in collision.

Two children — 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria — were also killed in the crash. Herbert Rivera, 58, was riding in the passenger seat of the Soul and is currrently hospitalized with “serious” injuries, according to police.

Hayes was taken to the hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries," police said.
