U.K. version of SNL featuring British cast due in 2026

An all-British version of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" is coming next year, U.K. broadcaster Sky announced on Thursday.

LONDON — An all-British version of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" is coming next year, with show creator Lorne Michaels acting as executive producer, U.K. broadcaster Sky announced Thursday.

The show will be produced from London by Michaels' Broadway Video and Universal Television Alternative Studio’s U.K. production team and will feature "a star-studded line-up of hosts," the company said in a news release.

Sky is owned by Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, which also owns NBC News.

The broadcaster said it will have same “live, fast-paced style that has made the show a cultural phenomenon with iconic hosts, musical guests and a core cast of the funniest British comedians around.”

"The show has discovered and nurtured countless comedy and musical talents over the years," Cecile Frot-Coutaz, the CEO of Sky Studios said in a news release, adding that the show would be "all live from London on Saturday night.”
