23 more dogs seized from Tacoma man already facing 75 animal cruelty charges

TACOMA, Wash. (KOMO) — A Pierce County, Washington man already facing dozens of animal cruelty charges was found to have several more dogs on his Midland property Wednesday evening.

Deputies were there to serve a warrant for Elmer Givens Jr. after prosecutors formally filed 75 animal cruelty-related charges stemming from two previous visits and dozens of dog seizures at the home over the past two years, according to Sgt. Darren Moss with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

But deputies found yet another 23 dogs at the home in the 9000 block of Portland Avenue East. One dog was rushed to a veterinarian for emergency treatment while the other 22 were taken by Animal Control, Moss said.

Givens as now had 107 dogs seized from his home since 2019.
