San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was activated for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs less than two months after he was shot in the chest.
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan shared the news with reporters Friday, nfl.com reported.
“The guys are pumped. He’s been around the guys for a while now, so it’s not like he hasn’t been around, but practicing all week,” Shanahan said, according to the site. “It’s been great to see him out there. I think the guys were real happy for him that he could get back and be a part of it. He’s had a hell of a week, and we’re just pumped to get him out there with us.”
The rookie returned to the practice field Monday for the first time since he was shot during an alleged attempted robbery, The Associated Press reported.
Pearsall was shot in the chest in San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood on Aug. 31.
