Tanks and other heavy equipment have already arrived in the city.

The last time the US had a military parade was in 1991, when President George H W Bush hosted the event to celebrate soldiers who served in the Gulf War.

The BBC asked Americans in Washington DC what they make of the parade and its estimated costs.
