Used 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Resto-ModResto-Modding has been a popular method of customization since the mid-1980s. The idea of taking a classic shape and adding modern conveniences like air conditioning, disc brakes and fuel injection is popular as it makes your classics easier and more pleasant to use. The quality and scope of these builds can range widely from an aftermarket fuel injection system and big wheels, to a top down build where you essentially start with a bare shell and go from there. This 1966 Chevelle is the latter, and is fresh out of a multi-year build by the hot rodding experts at Doug's Classic Restoration in Yelm, WA.The consignor of this car purchased it in 2018 from muscle car experts Chris Holstrom Concepts in Puyallup, WA and immediately sent it to Doug's upon delivery. Given essentially an open checkbook, the car was completely stripped and acid dipped before the team at Doug's Classic Restoration tore into the body to make it perfect. In total more than 1,400 hours were spent working with the paint and body, which was ultimately finished in a GM tri-stage red paint. Needless to say, the bodywork is all laser straight and it was completed to show-car standards. While the car was apart, the Art Morrison frame was powder coated while the wheel wells were mini-tubbed and filled with Forgeline 3-piece wheels. Behind these wheels sits performance Baer brakes with 6-piston calipers and slotted rotors and all new glass was installed around the car. What is interesting about this build is that, although so much time was spent on it, the build ethos was clearly not to stray too far from an original Chevelle in the looks department. In light of this, the black vinyl interior retains a largely original look, but with some very nice modern upgrades that are hidden throughout. The first thing you notice is the classic-looking wood and metal 3-spoke steering wheel that frames an original looking horizontal speedometer that has been upgraded by Dakota Digital with backlit gauges and an LCD speedometer/Odometer display. In the footwell, a modern pedal setup has been fitted and a new American wiring harness has been installed behind the scenes. And of course, as with any good resto-mod, and air conditioning has been installed in anticipation of hot summer days at car shows.Sitting under the hood is a brand new 572ci V8 crate motor from GM, painted in that classic Chevrolet orange and outfitted with numerous performance parts. With a forged rotating assembly, high flow rectangular port heads, a choppy hydraulic roller camshaft and custom headers, this engine flows an incredible amount of air and produces 621 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. A FITech fuel injection system has been installed under a classic-style circular air cleaner and custom mandrel bent 3-inch exhaust gives the car an outstanding sound. To keep it all cool, a Be Cool aluminum radiator w/twin electric fans has been fitted. Power is sent through a new 4L80-E automatic transmission to the rear wheels. Of course, when you're doing a big power build like this, you should always upgrade the suspension too. Fully adjustable coilovers have been installed, along with a rack and pinion steering setup that does away with much of the slop that is commonly associated with stock 1960s American car steering. With build receipts totaling over $190,000 and just 60 miles on the completed build, this is an outstanding entry into nearly any car event, or would make an unbelievable driver classic. Just one look at this car and you can tell the quality of the work is unparalleled and once you get behind the wheel, it only gets better.Key Features * Full Custom Build by Doug's Classic Restoration in Yelm, WA * Build Photos * Receipts Totaling Over $190,000 * Over 1,400 Hours in Paint and Body * Acid Dipped * GM Tri-Coat Red Paint * Art Morrison Powder Coated Chassis * 572ci V8 Crate Motor * 621 Horsepower/645 lb-ft of Torque * High Flow Rectangle-Port Aluminum Heads * Hydraulic Roller Camshaft * Custom Headers * FITech Fuel Injection * Be Cool Aluminum Radiator w/Twin Electric Fans * 4L80-E Automatic Transmission * Dakota Digital Gauges * Coil-Over Suspension * Rack and Pinion Steering * Baer 6-Piston Brakes * A/C * Ididit Tilt Steering ColumnFor more information on this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Resto-Mod or any of our High-Performance, Luxury, Exotic, and Special Interest cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40,000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
