Mamdani upsets Cuomo in New York’s Democratic mayoral primary 

33-year-old Zohran Mamdani scored a major upset over former governor Andrew Cuomo in the primary to become the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York. Mamdani has promised to make the city more affordable with free buses and rent freezes, but critics say he lacks experience and some question his stance on the Israeli government.
