Astronauts splash down on Earth after extended stay in space

Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have landed near Tallahassee, Florida after a 286-day mission at the International Space Station.

They splashed down with Nasa astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov.

The crew safely left the Dragon capsule less than an hour after a successful landing.

Williams and Wilmore were in space for 286 days after technical issues on the Boeing spacecraft that was meant to return them to Earth.

Their original mission was meant to last eight days.
