Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a statement that a boat team found two submerged vehicles in the north of the city. The fire department said "early reports" indicated two people were seen leaving one vehicle, but rescuers had to wait for water levels to fall before searching a second vehicle.
"Unfortunately, once first responders were able to search the second vehicle, they found one adult male still inside who was pronounced dead," the department's public information officer said. The victim has not been identified.
Tumultuous weather hit a huge area stretching up to Kansas and Missouri.
