Rebecca Cheptegei: Funeral of Ugandan Olympian killed by ex-partner takes place

Thousands of people attended the emotional event in Bukwo, to celebrate the life of Rebecca Cheptegei.

The Olympian marathon runner was killed by her ex-partner, following a dispute over land.

Members of Uganda's armed forces carried Cheptegei's coffin and gave a three-volley salute, as she was part of the army.

The BBC's senior Africa correspondent, Anne Soy, attended the funeral and commented on how huge crowds came to honour the athlete.
