AUBURN, Wash. -- Two people were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on SR-18 near Auburn Thursday morning.

Troopers say a car was heading east in the westbound lanes just west of 304th Street around 2:30 a.m. when it collided head-on with another vehicle, according to Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol.

Medics and trooper arrived to find both drivers with serious injuries and they were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

All westbound lanes of SR-18 were closed just east of the Green River Bridge for the crash investigation for several hours before reopening just before 7 a.m.. Johnson says they are still trying to determine why the driver was going the wrong way.
