City opens up COVID-19 vaccination appointments to all Seattle residents 65 and older

SEATTLE — The City of Seattle is opening up its COVID-19 vaccination appointments for its sites in Rainier Beach and West Seattle to all residents aged 65 and older.

The city's vaccination efforts from March 9-13 are focusing on older adults living in West, South and Central Seattle, because vaccination rates in these areas are lagging behind the rest of King County.

Residents who are 65 and older can register for the Rainier Beach vaccination hub here. Residents who are 65 and older can register for the West Seattle vaccination hub here.

Officials said Central Seattle has 62.8 percent of its older adults vaccinated, one of the lowest percentages countywide. West Seattle and South Seattle reported the lower percentage countywide (61.6 percent) of people 75 and older vaccinated.

The city is prioritizing appointments for older Seattleites, because they have the highest risk for hospitalization and death associated with COVID-19.

Health officials said non-Seattle residents or residents under 65 should not register as appointments are reserved for Seattle residents at highest risk for COVID-19 who have yet to be vaccinated.
