Used 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28In September 1966 Chevrolet released the Camaro as direct competition for the exceptionally popular Ford Mustang which went on sale a year and a half before. Unlike the Mustang though, right out of the gate Chevrolet outfitted the Camaro with some truly potent engines and a great chassis underneath which made even a pretty standard Camaro a respectable performer on the track. But for the true driving enthusiast, there was only one option in the Camaro lineup- the Z/28. Conceived by GM performance legend Vince Piggins, the Z/28 was designed as a direct competitor to the Boss 302 Mustang in the SCCA Trans-Am series with just minor modifications. This 1969 Camaro Z/28 is an absolutely stunning example that is fresh out of a frame off restoration and ready to be enjoyed. The body trim tag shows X77code, just 202 miles since the completion of the restoration, this car is in the sweet spot where the kinks have been sorted, but the car still presents outstandingly. Finished in arguably one of the best GM colors ever- Lemans Blue with wide white stripes, this Z/28 sits on a set of correct Rallye wheels and has a great stance on its wide BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. To see this car is to believe the quality of workmanship put into the restoration- the paint and body is all outstanding and the chrome wheels and bumpers look better than the day the car rolled out of the factory. Each year of Camaro production between 1967 and 1969 had some subtle changes in styling, with the 1969s being the most muscular and easily the favorite amongst most enthusiasts. On the inside, the 1969 Z/28 has potentially one of the best interior designs to ever come out of General Motors. A striking combination of black vinyl and houndstooth cloth, the Z/28's interior is both sporty and upscale- especially when covering the bucket seats with headrests up front. Sitting behind the two-spoke steering wheel, all of the information you need as a driver is laid out and easy to keep tabs on- a large speedometer and tach sit just in front of you, while down in front of the shifter, a set of auxiliary gauges sits in the console to check up on your fuel, temperature, voltage and oil pressure.Where the Z/28 really gets interesting though is under the hood. A short stroke 302ci V8 with an aluminum intake manifold and solid lifters to make it rev and, with just a few simple modifications could become a full on race motor. During the restoration of this car, the engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded with a Comp Cam, forged pistons, roller rockers and a set of period correct DZ 302 heads fitted with new valves and guides which have also been ported. This is then topped with a Holley 4bbl carburetor and makes for a seriously exciting driving experience in this stunning muscle car. Backing that engine up is an upgraded 5-speed manual gearbox in place of the original 4-speed, which adds an overdrive gear for more relaxed highway cruising. The sport suspension that was fitted to the Z/28 from the factory has been updated with a full Hotchkis sport suspension that includes subframe connectors which tie the chassis together and make this Z/28 an unbelievable driving experience. It's safe to say that the Z/28 was one of the best driving ponycars of the era and this example with its subtle but important modifications makes it one of the most enjoyable ways to get behind the wheel of a true American classic. All it takes is one look at this Camaro Z/28 to tell that the restoration was carried out to an exceptionally high level. Offered in one of the best color combinations and with all the right modifications, this is a car that is guaranteed to drive as great as it looks. Weather you owned a a Z/28 back in the day or have always wanted to add one to your collection, this example is not one to be missed.Watch a Walkaround Video Here...View undercarriage photos here...For more information on this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 or any of our 100+ high-performance sports cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to stop by our Bellevue, WA Park Place Ltd campus - where we have over 40,000 sq ft of indoor showrooms filled with the finest cars.
