An online toy drive fundraiser created by Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been flooded with donations after he collapsed during a game Monday night.
Hamlin, 24, suffered cardiac arrest during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was administered CPR on the field before being transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition, the Bills said in a statement early Tuesday.
In the wake of the incident, fans flocked to a GoFundMe Hamlin had set up in 2020 when he was entering the league.
The effort aims to raise money to buy toys for children impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and had an initial fundraising goal of $2,500.
That was eclipsed in the hours after Hamlin's collapse and by 5 a.m. ET had passed $3 million with more than 123,000 donations.
