Cleaning service employee kills coworker during dispute at Michigan General Motors assembly plant, officials say

The General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan will halt production Thursday after an early morning altercation between two people left one dead, local authorities and the company said.

A cleaning service employee has been arrested after killing a coworker during a dispute early Thursday at the General Motors Orion Assembly Plant in Michigan, authorities and the company said.

Both coworkers were employed by a third-party cleaning service provider at the Lake Orion assembly plant, General Motors and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to the plant at 1:37 a.m. Thursday on a report of an injured person and found a man, 49, “unconscious and bleeding.”

Deputies performed CPR on the victim but could not revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

His name was not released, pending positive identification, but he was described as a Pontiac resident who worked at the plant for seven months.
